PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Duolas-20 contains Duloxetine 20 mg, a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). Duloxetine acts on the central nervous system by increasing the availability of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine
These neurotransmitters are involved not only in the regulation of mood but also in the body’s descending pain-inhibitory pathways. By strengthening these pathways, Duloxetine can help reduce the transmission and perception of chronic and neuropathic pain
Duolas-20 is formulated as an enteric-coated capsule, helping protect Duloxetine from the acidic environment of the stomach and allowing release after passage into the intestine

HOW IT WORKS
Normally, serotonin and norepinephrine released from neurons are taken back up into the nerve endings through specific transporter proteins
Duloxetine inhibits the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine
As a result, their concentration and activity within neuronal synapses increase.
In pain pathways, increased serotonin and norepinephrine activity enhances the descending pain-inhibitory system originating in the brain and brainstem and acting through the spinal cord
This reduces the transmission of pain signals travelling toward the brain and can increase the body’s ability to suppress persistent pain
This dual mechanism explains why Duloxetine is useful in the management of certain types of neuropathic and chronic pain, in addition to its established role as an SNRI antidepressant
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take Duolas-20 exactly as prescribed by the physician
The capsule should be swallowed whole with water
Do not open, chew or crush the capsule, as doing so may damage the enteric coating and alter the intended release of Duloxetine
Pregnant women, women planning pregnancy and breastfeeding mothers should use Duloxetine only after consultation with their physician
Patients and caregivers should seek medical advice promptly if significant changes in mood, unusual behavior or suicidal thoughts occur, particularly after starting treatment or changing the dose
SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Duloxetine may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them
Commonly reported side effects may include:
Nausea, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, diarrhea
